Detailed Description

The Journal of General Physiology (JGP) and the Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM) seek a Scientific Managing Editor. As the Scientific Managing Editor, you will commission and oversee the peer review of "Review" content for both journals. Additional responsibilities for this role at JGP will be to partner with David Eisner, JGP Editor-in-Chief, and JGP Associate Editors in the recruitment of manuscripts, the development of editorial policies, and the strategic development of JGP. The Scientific Managing Editor will work closely with JGP's Managing Editor and JGP's Production Editor in ensuring the journal is produced on time with appropriate levels of quality. Will report to the Director, Editorial Development.

Job Requirements

Ph.D. in biomedical sciences required. Must have exceptional communication skills, analytical skills and superb attention to detail. A strong interest in scientific publishing and publication ethics a must. Must be willing and able to travel regularly to attend relevant scientific meetings and to visit research institutions.
