Rockefeller University Scientific Machinist in New York, New York
Through interactive engagement with Rockefeller scientists, the Instrumentation Design and Fabrication Facility (IDFF) will provide end-to-end service from conceptualization to application of scientific instrumentation and effectively partner with engineers and scientists at the University to support fabrication, prototyping and testing of relevant components and instruments.
The Scientific Machinist will effectively partner with engineers and scientists at the University to support fabrication, prototyping and testing of relevant components and instruments. Design and fabricate parts using modern CAD/CAM software. Lead operator of the Hermle C22 5-axis CNC-mill with related maintenance duties. Responsible for managing and meeting budgetary goals and related administrative duties.
Proven ability to establish and manage a scientific instrumentation fabrication facility. Five years of hands-on experience operating a Hermle 5-axis CNC mill with ITNC 530 Heidenhain Controls or higher and working with manual manufacturing machines and equipment in a research shop environment. Proven ability to design and fabricate custom implants for comparative medicine models used at the University using Catia V5 CAD/CAM software.
