Rockefeller University Research Assistant in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Lymphocyte Dynamics
Our Laboratory studies germinal centers, which are structures within lymphoid organs where antibodies mutate and improve their targeting capabilities in a process called affinity maturation. This allows the immune system to produce antibodies that are precisely targeted at invaders, resulting in faster and more robust responses upon subsequent exposures.
The Research Assistant will contribute to studies on the development and function of the intestinal immune system, focusing on immune responses to gut microbiota and food, and understanding both genetic and environmental drivers of intestinal immune phenotypes. The Research Assistant will be responsible for using mouse models to assess gut immune cells by flow cytometry and RNA-sequencing and will be responsible for mouse colony maintenance. Other responsibilities may include bacterial and mammalian cell culture, PCR, ELISA, and immunoblotting.
Bachelor's degree in science required. Must have basic laboratory training and be highly motivated with an interest in immunology. Prior experience handling mice, preferred. Must be well organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
