Rockefeller University Research Assistant in New York, New York
Job Title Research Assistant
Laboratory / Department Genetically Encoded Small Molecules
Natural products- or more generally, genetically encoded small molecules- play a wide variety of roles in biology and have proved useful in the development of small molecule therapeutic agents. Dr. Brady's research centers on the discovery, biosynthesis and characterization of new, genetically encoded small molecules from microbial sources, with a special focus on those produced by uncultured soil bacteria and pathogenic bacteria. He is also interested in developing molecular tools that can be used to observe small molecules in vivo.
Working closely with a postdoctoral researcher, the Research Assistant will contribute to an antibiotic discovery project. The Research Assistant will conduct peptide synthesis, purification, characterization, and bioassays.
Bachelor's degree in science required; educational emphasis in chemistry preferred. Must have at least 1 year of experience in an organic chemistry laboratory. Knowledge of biochemistry and related techniques preferred.
