The biology and evolution of viruses and eukaryotes are closely linked. Our Laboratory seeks to define how host genes influence the replication of viruses, emphasizing human and primate immunodeficiency viruses. Our lab aims to characterize the host functions that viruses mimic, manipulate, and otherwise exploit, as well as the defenses cells have evolved against viral infection.
The Laboratory is looking for highly intelligent and motivated Research Assistant that is interested in pursuing a career in medicine and/or scientific research. The Research Assistant will work on projects aiming to understand the interaction between cellular proteins and viruses, specifically HIV-1 and SARS-CoV-2. Responsibilities include working on experiments in molecular virology, recombinant DNA, flow cytometry and cell culture under the direct supervision of a Senior Research Associate.
Bachelor's degree in science required. Prior laboratory experience is also a must, specifically working in molecular biology and tissue culture. Experience in recombinant DNA techniques and/or cell culture required. Must have the ability to work independently as well as alongside others. Must also possess keen attention to detail and be well-organized, with the ability to maintain a careful record of the work performed.
