Our lab focuses on understanding the earliest events by which gram-positive bacteria, particularly streptococci and staphylococci, interact with the human mucous membrane surface, the site where most infections begin.
Working closely with a Research Associate in the laboratory, the Research Assistant will be the primary technical assistant on a Gates project performing screens for the phage lysins the laboratory identifies. Responsibilities include testing their ability to kill Campylobacter and for growing the Campylobacter under microaerophilic conditions for these tests.
Bachelor's degree in science required; emphasis in biological sciences, bacteriology, or immunology preferred. Must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to be focused, careful, meticulous, and comfortable with multi-tasking.
