Department Description

The Purchasing Department is responsible for the cost-effective and expeditious procurement of goods and services to support the scientific and administrative endeavors of the Rockefeller University. The Rockefeller University Purchasing Department, along with the Receiving and Stockroom Departments, help ensure that equipment, supply and service needs of the University are accomplished in a professional manner that also adheres to all legal requirements and best business practices.

Detailed Description

The Receiving Supervisor will maintain operational oversight of the University Receiving department and manage a full-time staff of four Receiving Clerks. Will be responsible for the receipt and shipment oversight of all purchase order related packages (including, but not limited to, chemicals, equipment, lab supplies, some animals, etc.) The Receiving Supervisor will also manage the University compressed gas and liquid nitrogen inventory cylinder program. Will supervise dock traffic control and serve as the Receiving department liaison to the CPO of the Purchasing department.

Job Requirements

High School diploma required. Must have 3-5 years of experience managing resources within a Receiving department. Must be familiar with digital receiving and outbound shipments. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required. Solid verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent customer service skills and problem-solving ability necessary.

Additional Details

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
