Organization Overview

The Purchasing Department is responsible for the cost-effective and expeditious procurement of goods and services to support the scientific and administrative endeavors of The Rockefeller University. The Rockefeller University Purchasing Department, along with the Receiving and Stockroom Departments, help ensure that the equipment, supply, and service needs of the University are accomplished in a professional manner that also adheres to all legal requirements and best business practices.


The Purchasing Clerk(s) will assist with any purchasing order inquiry, order status oversight and provide assistance and maintenance of the PO-related transaction. Will also assist with special tasks as assigned by the Director, Assistant Directors, Office Coordinator, Mail Room Manager, and Purchasing Specialist.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist with procurement orders oversight.

  • Will process purchase orders (PO) with vendors.

  • Will maintain and oversee both, PO, order status and process order returns.

  • Update and maintains proper records for all transactions, including and not limited to vendor insurance forms and reconciliation of PO transactions (digital and hardcopy).


Bachelor's degree required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detailed oriented, with great customer service skills and problem-solving abilities. Must possess basic computer skills, with good working knowledge of Excel.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
