Laboratory / Department Plant Operations
Plant Operations offers comprehensive services at The Rockefeller University including a full range of building trades services which are responsible for routine maintenance and minor/major space alterations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, grounds maintenance, locksmith, custodial, moving and setup services.
Under the direction of the HVAC manager and/or HVAC foreman, the Mechanic I will perform tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. Particular emphasis on troubleshooting systems and components including but not limited to: Air Handlers, motors, pumps, controls, control valves, dampers, actuators (pneumatic and electric), sensors, and end use devices. Will perform general preventive maintenance including filters, belts, bearings, strainers, and traps is ongoing. Minor piping work is required including chilled water, steam, traps, and condensate.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. 5 to 10 years of experience in the HVAC field with progressing skill and/or responsibility necessary. Experience in alignment of rotating equipment and repair/replacement of associated components such as shafts, seals, bearings, and couplings a plus. Must be a motivated worker, self-starter, and able to work independently when needed.
