Department Description

The Finance Department of the University encompasses the Controller's Office and the Office of Budget, Treasury and Research Administration. These offices are dedicated to ensuring the integrity of data submitted, recorded and reported and to providing the highest level of financial services in support of the University's mission in Biomedical Research.

Detailed Description

The Grants Analyst will be responsible for establishing award accounts in Oracle Grants Accounting. Will administer awards in accordance with sponsoring agency policies and regulations and notify appropriate sponsors and/or Development with regards to outstanding Grant receivables/funds. Will monitor accounts receivable as well as laboratory grant activity daily, perform accounting for grants and contracts including private donor and government-funded grants, reconcile monthly statements to budgets, prepare financial reports and invoices to award agencies, and provide support to Principal Investigators (PI) and administrators through verbal and written communication. The Grants Analyst will be responsible for notifying heads of departments and lab administrators of any spending rate irregularities, such as over-or under-spending, and will provide grant expenditure forecasting to heads of departments and administrators upon request. Will respond to the Office of Sponsored Research's unobligated balance inquiries and obtain a spending plan from the lab administrator as needed and will serve as a back-up to the Grants Accountants.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree required; educational emphasis in accounting or business preferred. Must be proficient in Oracle Grants Accounting, Payment Management System, preparing invoices/vouchers, and financial reports. Must have knowledge of accounting for Federal grants and contracts, excellent computer and Microsoft suite, proficiency. Excellent written and verbal skills, communication skills, professional interpersonal skills, and ability to work with faculty and laboratory administrators on a professional level. Must have excellent analytical skills, and strong attention to detail. Must be able to take initiative, and work with minimal supervision.
