Organization Overview
Research in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, led by Dr. Nathaniel Heintz, aims to identify the genes, circuits, cells, macromolecular assemblies, and individual molecules that contribute to the function of the mammalian brain and to its dysfunction in disease. Understanding the distinct classes of neurons and the circuits that control specific aspects of cognition and behavior can lead to more targeted treatments for central nervous system disorders.
Overview
Our lab seeks a highly motivated individual to work on a project that will study the molecular basis of Alzheimer's disease.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
Animal husbandry
Tail biopsies
Preparation of DNA for polymerase chain reaction
Qualifications
High School diploma required.
Candidate must have familiarity with a laboratory setting and be comfortable working with small animals.
Experience with brain fixation, embedding and cryo-sectioning is a bonus.
